BRIEF ACCOUNT OF DEPARTMENT

The General Arts department is an important department of the school. The General Arts concern themselves with the study of different aspects of human behavior.

The General Arts equip students with basic skills and knowledge that enable them to be useful members of the country. The General Arts provide for intellectual training, a preparation for citizenship and a vocational training. The General Arts Department is a big department in the school. Apart from the core subjects, more students read the General Arts than other elective subjects. The main reason is to train many social scientists who can contribute to the development of the country.

ACHIEVEMENTS OVER THE YEARS

The General Arts Department has achieved a lot over the years. Our students performed creditably in their final examination. In recognition of this achievement, the Department was awarded prizes during the last two Speech and Prize-Giving Day. We want to express our gratitude to the school for recognizing the performance of teachers in the Department. We promise that we shall not rest on our oars and promise to work harder to justify the confidence repose in us.

PROBLEMS AND CHALLENGES

As a human institution, the department is face with some challenges. These are:

  1. The students’ knowledge in current affairs in low. They do not listen to news and they do not have access to newspapers.

  2. Teachers are confronted with large class sizes. Some classes have more than 50 students.

  3. It seems students do not have time to go to the library to do some research on their own.

VISION

We in the Department have dreams. We dream of a year in which 90% of our students get A1 in all their elective subjects. We also dream of a year in which all our final students will get admission into public universities.

However, these dreams cannot be realize without hard work and devoted service. Teaching profession demands great sacrifice of all teachers. Let us all work harmoniously towards the fulfillment of our dreams.

Let us all remember that the greatness, indeed the strength of any school depends on discipline, loyalty, service, and sacrifice. We must explore every avenue and means of evolving new techniques, new methods of work, and channel them into the service of this great school.
